Brussels Airlines Launch at Toronto Pearson International Airport

To launch the new Toronto-Brussels service, Brussels Airlines held a press event at Toronto Pearson International Airport followed by a walking dinner for two-hundred industry guests and partners at The Bier Markt. In attendance was special guest His Excellency Raoul Delcorde, Belgium Ambassador to Canada. The press event included a ceremonial ribbon cutting, gift exchange between the Toronto Pearson and Brussels Airlines, and traditional water salute on the tarmac. Guests enjoyed a Belgium inspired lunch including waffles, frites and a custom cake shaped like an airplane.

The event was followed by a walking dinner reception at the Bier Markt. Partnering with Visit Flanders Organization the evening presented an authentic Belgium menu including: Flanders Kitchen Rebel Chef Sam D’Huyvetter who custom prepared a six-course Belgium menu including beer pairings with each dish, and a praline chocolate tasting station featuring Chocolatier Robert from Belgium who sculpted a solid chocolate airplane (all chocolate, cheese and other food items were imported from Brussels for this event). The Coming World Remember Me station allowed guests to participate in an art installation by creating a statue that will be part of 600,000 statues each representing each victim of WWΙ to be displayed in Flanders Fields in 2018. Other guest engagements included a digital photobooth, jazz quartet, and various artist displays including Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte and Tin Tin.
