Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation – Chef’s Challenge: The Ultimate Battle for a Cure

The Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation raises funds to support the exceptional care, world-leading research and innovative education at Mount Sinai Hospital. 500 guests attended the fourth annual Chef’s Challenge dinner at the Toronto Congress Centre to get a glimpse of celebrity host Giada De Laurentiis, and see Canadian chefs – David Rocco, Derek Dammann, Bal Arneson, Mark McEwan and Vikram Vij – lead their culinary teams onstage in The Ultimate Battle for a Cure.

The day began with a morning meet and greet where fundraisers could have their photo taken and “Giada’s Feel Good Food” cookbook signed by Giada followed by an Appetizer Challenge pre-battle with the winning team selected by guests at the opening cocktail reception. Throughout the night, teams competed in a Main Course and a Dessert Challenge, both judged by celebrity judges Scott McGillivray, Maggie McKeown, Grant Van Gameren and John Higgins. Guests also got into the action with a live auction that raised over $34,000 and an interactive Donut Challenge where guests could decorate donuts at their table to create their own masterpiece. Upon leaving the event, guests were encouraged to ‘Shop the Aisle’ and pick from an assortment of donated goods to put a new spin on the traditional gift bag. Chef’s Challenge has raised $3.7 million to date since its inception in 2010.
